Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
1. Finally managed to load Doctor Horrible last night. And haven't stopped playing it since. Favourite line of the first act: With my freeze-ray I will stop the pain. NPH'S DELIVERY, OH MAN. That entire first song makes me swoon and blush and giggle. Ugh. Hoodie wearing boys singing about being in love, SHUT UP. And every single time I crack up through the entire Captain Hammer bit. When he puts his hand over his ear while he's singing! There should really be Oscar buzz.

2 Is everybody stupidly excited for SPN at comic con, OR IS THAT JUST ME? Blooper reel footage. It transcends caps lock and exclamation marks. And new S4 footage! POST S3 FINALE SAM AND/OR DEAN. NOM NOM NOM. I just saw the name of the S4 premiere, and, oh man, I get excited knowing it HAS a name. Which mostly speaks to how easily excitable I am. WHATEVER. JAJKLA.

3. You guys, sometimes I look back over an old post and am so appalled and embarrassed by my own spelling. I am one of those people on the internet with hideous spelling. And the worst part is that it's not because I'm a lazy 13 year old who just couldn't be bothered. I do care. And still get it wrong. [info]winter_baby thinks it's endearing, at least. I swear I understand how letters go together in theory.

4. I'm not sure anyone will be interested in this since most of it is just an updated re-posting, but there were a few more to add and then I couldn't resist updating the whole thing with the much prettier DVD caps that are now available. So, yeah... but not posting it is even more ridiculous, and I need to get it out so that I can move on to the season three post which is really the one I'm excited about. So, ta da:

Disclaimer: In case it's not self-evident, I don't actually know what I'm talking about when it comes to motels or interior design.

GIMME SHELTER
The Motels of Supernatural: Season Two

Adobe Court Motel (2x03)

Part southwestern style, part generic motel room. ALL UGLY.

Details: Exterior, leaflet and map.

Location: The Adobe Court Motel sign is visible during a scene in All Hell Breaks Loose Part 1.

The Pink Pearl (2x04)

The name of this one is a euphemism, yes? And appropriate setting for Sam's "awkward" moment. Love the wallpaper in this one. LOVE. IT. It makes the room feel industrial to me. Like copper turned green from rain. But given that the rest of the room makes it look as if this place rents by the hour I'm not sure that's what they were going for. Industrial sheik, maybe?

Details: Leaflet.

City Center Motor Hotel (2x07)

Details: Exterior and sign.

The Aardvark Motel (2x07)

LOVE THAT COLOUR SCHEME. And the wicked retro wallpaper. Though it's an shame of great magnitude that we didn't get a shot of Dean sleeping in those pink sheets.

Details: Leaflet.

Prop re-use: Print from Fresh Blood, headboard from Hunted and TUS.

The Baskerville Motel (2x08)

Okay, so the boys didn't actually stay in this room, but I'm including it on account of extreme prettiness. The rich red colour scheme perfectly complimenting the nice lady getting ripped to shreds by hell hounds. Love the lavish table lamp, the deep muddy brown walls, and the large bizarre wall ornament.

Details: Leaflet.

Prop re-use: Print from Malleus Maleficarum, headboard from TKaA, BDaBR and Malleus Maleficarum.

Unknown Name (2x09)

Details: Leaflet.

Prop re-use: Bedding from Asylum, Scarecrow and Salvation.

The Velvet Inn (2x10)

Details: Exterior and sign.

The Blue Rose Motel (2x10)

You guys, this one is OFF THE HOOK. As if the psychedelic swirly wallpaper wasn't enough there's also a totally out-of-place china cabinet, as well as decorative lattice on the walls. And, of course, the super gaudy blue rose room divider that Gordon shoots all to hell. This room plus Ava's car sure do seem to suggest that blue was her signature colour.

Details: Exterior, leaflet, and sign.

Prop re-use: Headboard from TUS and Sin City.

Unknown Name (2x11)

This is classic 70's, yes? It's hard to imagine people decorated like this once upon a time. It's so busy. And SO ORANGE. I absolutely love it for the Winchesters, though. No wonder Dean doesn't know what a myspace is, I wouldn't be surprised if he's not 100% sure what decade it is. Love the funky table lamp.

Prop re-use: Bedding from Malleus Maleficarum.

The Pierpont Inn (2x11)

The "why would anybody ever stay here" inn. Agreed, Dean-o. SO VERY CREEPY. It's like the set decorated raided his prop stash for every stuffed dead animal ever (don't miss what looks to be a beaver, or maybe a platypus on the table by the deer head). And the person responsible for hanging the wedding dress like that deserves some sort of award for eeriness. That style of table lamp is quite pretty, though. But who's really looking at decor when Dean's strutting around in that tight emo-sleeved brown shirt anyway, right?

Details: Exterior and sign.

Location: Cenacle Convent, aka "Rosemary" is a heritage building in Vancouver and doubled as the Pierpont Inn. I'm pretty sure the same building is visible in the background in Hook Man.

Extras: A doll house replica of the Inn was featured in the episode. Also, the room number is one of multiple references to The Shining.

The Brew City Motel (2x12)

Finally a room where Dean can feel at home. *g* The beer divider being the center piece, no doubt. A tribute to the city of Milwaukee where the episode takes place. Personally I'm a sucker for exposed brick.

Details: Leaflet.

The Big Ride (sp?) Inn (2x13)

Although Dean was none too pleased to be on house arrest I'm sure he appreciated the decor in this one. And the magic fingers. Until the quarters ran out. I love it when the motel rooms get to play an active part in the episode like that. Okay, so magic fingers, an array of ladies ranging from classy to not-so-much on the walls, bordello-esque red flocked wallpaper, and lime green stucco. I'm a fan.

Details: Leaflet.

Prop re-use: Bedding from Faith, Nightmare and Mystery Spot.

Larson's Landing Motel (2x14)

Definitely all about the fish and tackle room divider. Where do they FIND these things? Is there some magical cracked out room divider shop in Vancouver? I would like to go to that store. Aside from that, love the retro kitchen area with the bar and stools. And the wallpaper and bedding is actually quite pretty this time around.

Details: Billboard, exterior 1, exterior 2, and leaflet.

Prop re-use: Bedding from Tall Tales.

King's Lair Hotel (2x15)

Definitely a season favourite, with the grand headboards, and the jeweled wall lamps, and the ornate miss-matched chairs, and the fun-because-it's-hideous kitchen area. This one has a general feel a griminess, and the paint on the walls is literally peeling off. The fact that Dean is not so much a joy to live with is highlighted by the hordes of old food boxes littering every inch of the place. Probably some still with remnants of food in them. Didn't Sam say something about dirty socks in the sink? CHARMING, DEAN.

Details: Exterior.

Prop re-use: Bedding from BUaBS.

The China Sea Motel (2x17)

Love the Asian theme in this one. And the muted colour palette with hits of bright red and green. Check out the pretty hand painted mural along the wall behind the beds. And... is that a hula dancer lamp on the nightstand?

Details: Exterior and leaflet.

Prop re-use: Bedding from Faith.

The Joliet Motel

The pole lamp room divider reminds me of my grandma's basement. The swirly red wallpaper is gorgeous. And although I doubt I'll ever be a fan of wood laminate, I do love that it's a staple of the Winchester motel rooms. Plus, that huge ornate clock is kind of amazing.

Details: Exterior and leaflet.

The End

Go forward to season three. (Coming soon)
Go back to season one.

5. And a poll, just 'cause I like 'em. *g*
